We have signed the Zero Racism Pledge

We are proud to announce that we have signed the zero-racism pledge.

As a housing association, we understand the importance of providing fair services to all members of our community. We have always been committed to a policy of equal opportunities in employment and service delivery, and we are proud to take this pledge to further solidify our commitment to this principle.

Jason Wroe, Chief Executive at Newydd said, “At Newydd Housing Association, we are committed to creating a community where everyone is treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their race or ethnicity. By signing the zero-racism pledge, we are reaffirming our commitment to this principle and taking a stand against racism in all its forms. We are proud to promote a more inclusive and equal society for all and will continue to work towards this goal.”

About the Zero Racism Pledge
Zero Racism Wales calls on all organisations and individuals committed to promoting racial harmony and equity to sign up to their zero-tolerance policy to racism in Wales and implement the commitments outlined by the policy within the workplace and their day to day lives.

By signing up and agreeing to the policy, we agree to take a stand against racism and promote a more inclusive and equal workplace and society that gives every individual in Wales the right to feel safe, valued and included.

Our commitment

We ensure that there is no unfair discrimination on the basis of age, disability, race, religion and belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity and marriage and civil partnership or any other relevant characteristics in the provision of housing, services or employment. We welcome and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds particularly from Black, Asian and minority ethnic people and people with disabilities as they are currently underrepresented in our workplace.

Oonagh Lyons, Director of Housing and Communities at Newydd said, "We play a crucial role  in providing fair and equitable housing services to all members of our community. This is a collective responsibility, and we expect all members of our community, including our staff, clients, customers to co-operate."

Moving forward

We also understand that monitoring is an essential part of ensuring that our policy is fully effective. Therefore, we will be monitoring equality and diversity across all aspects of our activity, including staff recruitment, complaints, and disciplinary actions, to ensure that all groups receive fair and equitable treatment.

We are proud to take this pledge and further solidify our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equal society for all. We stand in solidarity with all those who believe in this principle and will work to promote good race relations and equal opportunities for all. Our door is open, everyone is welcome.
