Newyddion: Your December tenant newsletter

Hi, it’s Newydd here! As we wrap up the final issue of our tenant newsletter for 2023, we would like to thank you all for reading and engaging with this newsletter throughout the year. We appreciate every single comment that we’ve received from the Reading and Policy Panel, which has helped us improve the way that we write and design these newsletters.

Our Christmas opening hours

Our offices will be closed from 3:00pm Friday the 22nd of December 2023 and will reopen at 8:30am Tuesday 2nd of January 2024.

To report an emergency repair during this time please call 0303 040 1998 and follow the options. You will be reporting your emergency repair directly to our out of hours service, they can take your call 24 hours a day.

If you need to report a non-emergency or pay your rent during this time, MyNewydd, your tenant account, will be available 24 hours a day. Please do not use MyNewydd or social media to report emergencies as you will not get a response, you must call 0303 040 1998.

Christmas hamper campaign 2023

That’s a wrap on our Christmas Hamper Campaign 2023!  Here are some of our staff members packing up some of the Christmas hampers to individuals and families who were referred to us by our Financial Inclusion Team. This week, we've delivered more than 50 food hampers to families across all of our estates.

Welsh Water: Financial support

If you are worried about the cost of Christmas, Welsh Water can provide you with financial support options available that could help you save on your water bill. You can call them to talk through your options on: 0800 052 0145.

Fire safety: Keeping you safe

This Christmas, we may be using our electricals more often and decorating with lights and candles. Please be careful as a fire can have a devastating effect. Unfortunately, one of our tenants recently experienced a fire in their home, resulting in significant damage as seen in these photos. The damage left behind by this incident is a clear reminder of how important it is to prioritise fire safety in our everyday lives.


To keep you safe in the event of a fire, it is important to know the basic steps:

  • Test your smoke alarm weekly
  • Plan how you would get out if there was a fire in your home. Get to know your building’s evacuation plan
  • Remember to close all doors, switch off and unplug your appliances such as TV's every night. Keep your phone and any mobility aids close by if you need them
  • Make sure candles are not on or near anything that could catch fire and make sure heaters aren’t covered
  • Use a maximum of one plug in each socket and never use them if wet
  • Make sure you put out and dispose of cigarettes properly and keep matches and lighters away from children. Never smoke in bed

Digital support

We can help you gain new skills in using computers, tablets and accessing services like online shopping, job searching, accessing your Government Gateway account or online banking. We can also support you to gain qualifications in computer skills


We offer short-term loan of digital equipment including tablets, laptops, and smart speakers to help you to get online and use the internet effectively and safely. Christmas songs at Elis Fisher Court

A big thank you to the children from Oakfield Primary School for coming along to sing Christmas songs at one of our independent living schemes.

The tenants at Elis Fisher Court thoroughly enjoyed their concert. Have a listen to this short clip of them singing "Feliz Navidad" and "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" to get you into the Christmas spirit.
