First phase of affordable homes and ‘Rent to Own’ houses are handed over at Llandrindod Wells development
Newydd are pleased to have started the first phase of handovers of the brand-new affordable homes at Ithon Road, Llandrindod Wells.
This development, first of its kind for Newydd, will deliver over 55 homes for the local communities with 17 properties being offered as ‘Rent to Own’ homes.
Rent-to-Own can help first time buyers purchase a home if they do not have enough funds for a mortgage deposit.
To celebrate the first phase handover, Councillor Jake Berriman presented story books to be included in each lettings pack, funded from Newydd’s community benefits initiative.
The story books were produced following the success of the local teen and adult short story competition that was run in December 2020. The competition was supported by Newydd and Hale construction who funded the competition prizes.
Councillor Berriman, who is actively involved in the local community, said “It has been fantastic to see all these stories, written by budding authors from the local area, published into a book. By gifting these story books to the new tenants at Ithon Road, we are supporting local talent and encouraging reading within our communities”.
“Thank you to Newydd for funding this important initiative.” Councillor Berriman said.
Jason Wroe, Newydd Chief Executive said, “I was thrilled that Newydd could support this local project and it has given us the opportunity to immerse ourselves into the community at a time when we are developing affordable properties in the town”.
“It’s brilliant to be at the first handover stage and seeing people settling into their new homes. The houses look fantastic, and we are proud of this development. We are looking forward to continue working Councillor Berriman and Powys County Council to continue to play our part in the community.” Jason said.
