Remember to update your details on April 1st

Do you claim Housing Benefit or Universal Credit to pay your rent? Remember to update your details on April 1st.

Newydd sent Rent Increase letters to all tenants in January, outlining changes to rent and service charges in-line with Welsh Government guidelines which will take effect from April 1st, 2025.

If you claim Universal Credit to help pay your rent, you will need to inform them of the change in your rent on April 1st 2025.  You cannot do this before this date, as you cannot report a change until it happens on Universal credit.

If you receive your housing benefit paid directly to you, then you will need to inform your local council the change of your rent. Please visit the hub to do this as they will need to see evidence of the new rent.

If your housing benefit is paid directly to Newydd, then you do not need to do anything. We have already informed your local council of your new rent amount.

If you need any support with this change, or have any concerns about paying your rent, our staff are here to help. Simply contact us by calling 0303 040 1998 or by e-mailing enquiries@newydd.co.uk
