New Affordable Homes In Tonyrefail By Newydd Housing Association Ready To Welcome New Tenants

A brand new housing development by Newydd Housing Association in Tonyrefail will shortly be welcoming residents for the first time following completion by developers Castell.

The scheme, known as Bryn Aeron,  has been developed in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and funded by the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant. It will offer 14 one-bedroom flats for affordable rent.

The development marks a significant step in addressing local housing need and homes have been allocated through HomefinderRCT.  All properties in the development are EPC A-rated, which will minimise their environmental impact.

Jason Wroe, Chief Executive of Newydd Housing Association, said: "We are thrilled to take management of these new homes in Tonyrefail, and will shortly be handing over the keys to households on the Council’s housing list. This development represents our ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable, affordable housing that meets the needs of local people. Working in partnership with Castell and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has been key to making this vision a reality."

Councillor Mark Norris, Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Housing at Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, added, “It’s brilliant to see Bryn Aeron completed and ready to welcome residents in time for Christmas.

"Schemes such as this are an important part of our commitment to our residents to provide quality and affordable housing, which we are able to support through funding from the Social Housing Grant.

“It is no secret that the UK is in the grips of a housing crisis, with Rhondda Cynon Taf facing similar issues to the rest of the country. Access to quality and affordable housing for residents is a priority for us, and we will continue to provide funding to support the development of much needed homes.

“We have seen many successful housing projects in recent years, including turning empty properties into homes that people cherish, but we are fully aware that there still a number of pressures.

“We are pleased to support Newydd Housing Association alongside Welsh Government in this very successful project, and everyone at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council wishes the new residents all the best for the future.”
