Improving our vision

Learning is about seeing things from a different perspective, so we recently consulted with our tenants about our new corporate plan themes.

We shared the 5 year plan on Facebook, My Newydd and by email. We also invited tenants to attend one of three events that we hosted in Rhydyfelin, Newtown and Barry.

Jason Wroe, Newydd Chief Executive said, “We had a fantastic turn out with 52 tenants coming along to our events and a further 13 tenants shared their feedback by email. For many, it was the first time they had engaged with us too. I can say on behalf of all the staff attending that we enjoyed the events, gaining fantastic ideas and honest feedback from tenants to allow us to adapt our corporate plan.”

Themes and feedback

The 5 corporate plan themes are Growth, Safety, Sustainability, Support and Excellent Services and the feedback received from tenants suggested that we:

  • Improve communication and accessibility by offering more face-to-face opportunities and introducing video/Zoom calls
  • Improve the visibility of staff on estates and hold regular surgeries so we can listen to and build stronger relationships with our tenants
  • Improve facilities for aging and vulnerable tenants e.g. scooter storage
  • Make processes and procedures simpler
  • Provide more financial support in this time of economic crisis
  • Expand partnership working to resolve community issues e.g. rubbish removal and parking
  • Share more information on plans relating to decarbonisation and new developments
  • Get repairs right first time

The feedback we received will now be incorporated into strategies to ensure that we successfully meet the diverse needs and expectations of our customers.

Jason added, “Continuing to work together with our tenants will ensure that we all have a clear joint vision and that the future will look very bright for everyone!”

Prize winners

All tenants who shared their opinions with us were entered into a prize draw to win a laptop. Soraya, Sara, Mark and William from Barry, Leah and Sarah from Rhydyfelin and Paul and Julie from Newtown were our lucky winners. Congratulations all!
