Cadarn Housing Group has announced the appointment of Debbie Green as the new Chair of its Board. She will oversee the Group's work of providing affordable social homes and exemplary housing services to communities across south and mid Wales.
Debbie has extensive leadership experience from across the housing sector in Wales and brings a strong commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality homes, and positive outcomes for both residents and staff. In her former role as Group Chief Executive of Beacon Cymru, she successfully led the merger of Coastal Housing Group and RHA Wales to create Beacon, one of Wales' largest housing associations.
Cadarn Housing Group is the parent organisation of Newydd Housing Association and Cadwyn Housing Association, who provide affordable, safe and high-quality social housing for communities. Combined, the Group manage around 5,000 homes across six counties in south & mid Wales.
Having started her career as a chartered accountant with PwC, Debbie has worked across the private, public and third sectors throughout Wales. She’s also a former Chair of Community Housing Cymru and currently serves as a Trustee of leading mental health charity Platfform. Her diverse experience has seen her lead organisations through periods of significant change.
On accepting the role, Debbie said, “It’s fantastic to have been appointed Chair of Cadarn and I’m looking forward to working with residents, new colleagues, and the rest of the Board to lead us into our next exciting phase.
“I can’t wait to get out and about to meet more residents and truly understand what matters most for them and their homes.
“Having worked in the Welsh social housing sector for many years, I know of Cadarn’s strong reputation, not only in providing quality homes but also in putting residents at the heart of everything it does. It’s important to build on this and ensure that residents’ voices are central so that we can continue to invest in existing homes, develop new affordable housing, and provide better services that help our communities to thrive.”
