Demonstrating our commitment to sustainability

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Bronze Carbon Literacy Award, a testament to our dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

This recognition comes from The Carbon Literacy Project, a leading environmental initiative. It acknowledges our initial steps in promoting environmental literacy among our dedicated staff, tenants, and the wider community. It also demonstrates our commitment to address the pressing global climate crisis and pave the way for a sustainable future.

Jason Wroe, Chief Executive of Newydd said, "We are honoured to receive the Bronze Carbon Literacy Award, which reflects our ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on the environment. This achievement is testament to the commitment of our staff and tenants to sustainability. We will continue to strive for even greater carbon reduction goals, embedding it further into the culture of our organisation."

Shaping a sustainable future at Newydd

At Newydd, we have been actively integrating Carbon Literacy principles into our daily operations, from our Optimised Retrofit Programme to the promotion of eco-conscious practices among our workforces. This commitment to sustainable practices is at the core of our organisation.

To date, we have delivered Carbon Literacy training to 31 of our employees, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to reduce their carbon footprint. An additional 40 employees have also completed their training and are eagerly awaiting their results.

The Bronze Carbon Literacy Award is not only a testament to our commitment to environmental stewardship but also highlights our pivotal role in shaping a more sustainable future for social housing in Wales. We are now setting our sights on even bigger goals, with a clear objective to attain the Silver award by the end of March 2024.
