Tenancy Ready Training

Newydd is working in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council to give residents the skills, confidence and knowledge to manage their own tenancies. The programme allows learners to develop an understanding of what a tenancy would involve, and what they would need to do, to maintain a tenancy and live independently.

Who is the training for?
The workshops are currently available for all residents in the Vale of Glamorgan regardless of their current accommodation. If you have never held a tenancy in the past, are currently in a failing tenancy or have experienced a failed tenancy, you are eligible to receive the Tenancy Ready Training.

What does the course involve?
The course explains tenancy agreements, rights and responsibilities, living on a limited budget, looking after a property, anti-social behaviour, welfare reform, how to deal with issues that may arise, furniture options and help and support available.

Other courses

Shared Tenancy Workshop: This is a separate programme aimed at those who are looking for shared accommodation through Rooms4U, a housing scheme for people under the age of 35.  The course explains the expectations of living with other people and the differences in the tenancies for those who will be sharing facilities as well as all the vital skills to live independently.

Tenancy Recovery Workshop: This course is aimed at existing tenants who are struggling to maintain and are at risk of failing their tenancy. Participants will look at the skills needed to maintain their tenancy and ways to correct problems that have arisen already.
