Free food for Hapi residents

Hapi has teamed up with Neighbourly and local Lidl stores to take part in their Feed It Back scheme. Unsold food will be given to local communities, helping tackle food poverty.

Hapi’s Lisa and Jackie filled two car loads worth of food from Pontypridd’s Lidl store and gave them to 32 tenants and eight residents on the 22nd of June at the Hapi Hub. The aim of this project is to help those who are on the brink of food poverty, while also reducing food waste.

Lisa Voyle, senior project officer at Hapi said, “It was simple to get started and we were able to help around 40 people overall. The food was gone in a matter of minutes and I’m excited to see this project grow; two volunteers, Emma Newbury and Rosalind King, are helping with the scheme now and we hope to have it completely volunteer led soon.”
