Barry Kicks needs your vote!

Barry Kicks has been successful in applying for Tesco’s Bags of Help Scheme and as such, the project will now be put forward to a customer vote in Tesco throughout September and October this year.

Barry Kicks, along with two other projects in the area, will be put to a vote in local Tesco stores where customers decide the outcome by voting for their favourite project with each and every shop! Voting begins on Friday September 1st and will run until Tuesday October 31st. The project will then be notified confirming the amount of funding they will receive as the project with the greatest number of votes across the region will receive up to £4,000! Project placed in second and third place will receive £2,000 and £1,000 respectively.

Here is a list of participating Tesco stores where voting will take place:

Barry – CF62 8NX

Penarth – CF64 1SA

Penarth (Express) – CF64 2AF

Barry Holton Rd. (Express) – CF63 4SU

Rhoose (Express) – CF62 3DT

Dinas Powys Castle (Express) – CF64 4NR

Barry Road (Express) – CF63 1BA

To be eligible to vote, all you need to do is make a purchase of any value (even a packet of chewing gum or a loaf of bread!), after which you will receive one token; the token can then be used to vote for whichever project you believe deserves the highest funding. To increase the chances of winning, be sure to spread the word amongst your colleagues, friends and family, and ask them to vote in any of the locations listed above!

Barry Kicks is a project that hosts weekly football sessions at Colcot Sports Centre and has been running since July 2015. Working in close partnership with the CCFC Foundation, Communities First, the Vale of Glamorgan council and local police, Newydd’s football orientated project aims at tackling anti-social behaviour throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and has had a significant impact on the local community and beyond. Funding for Barry Kicks will ensure the project can thrive and continue to help the young people of the Vale, giving them opportunities that otherwise would be unavailable to them. Barry Kicks relaunch their season on September 7###sup/sup### on the brand new 3G football pitches outside Colcot Sports Centre.
